About the position

The Automation Engineering Intern will work under the guidance of the Director of Automation, gaining hands-on experience in the design, operation, and controls of custom automated systems. This role involves collaboration with design engineers to create end-of-arm tools for robotic extraction of manufactured plastic parts, while ensuring compliance with quality and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of Robotic EOATs (end of arm tools) and other designs meeting engineering standards and customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineers and the Director of Automation on custom parts and applications.
  • Ensure conformance to ASME Codes, IATF16949, and company standards for quality and manufacturability.
  • Assist in improving the design of current automation components to enhance quality and productivity while reducing costs.
  • Analyze engineering drawings and designs to detect errors.
  • Assist Design Engineers with the Enterprise PDM Solidworks data system usage.
  • Initiate open purchases and capital purchase orders as required.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing, design, and quality issues.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with quality and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Enrolled in College courses in Science, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical) or related field.
  • Knowledge of MS Products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Internet, Email)
  • Good Problem-Solving Skills
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • High level of self-motivation and reliability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Solid Works
  • Project management skills
