About the position

The Automation Engineering Specialist is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated systems in manufacturing and production environments. This role emphasizes expertise in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, and computer systems validation (CSV). The ideal candidate will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of automated equipment and processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair PLC-based automation systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
  • Ensure proper functioning of automated systems including conveyors, sensors, and other control devices.
  • Program and modify PLC ladder logic and HMI interfaces to improve system functionality.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot SCADA systems used to control and oversee automated processes.
  • Ensure communication between field devices and SCADA servers is operational.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new automation technologies or equipment into existing systems.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement automation solutions that increase system efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, GxP) for automation and control systems.
  • Participate in validation activities for automated systems, ensuring systems meet applicable regulatory and quality requirements.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on automation equipment and systems to ensure continuous operations.
  • Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution of automation-related issues on the production floor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial/electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in automation engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in automation tools and technologies such as PLCs, SCADA systems, and programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#).
  • Strong understanding of control systems, process automation, and industrial networking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
