About the position

As an Automation Field Service Representative at ALTEN Technology USA, you will play a crucial role in the commissioning and operational support of Water Treatment Plants. This position involves acting as a liaison between design engineering and the commissioning team, providing technical assistance, managing vendor activities, and ensuring compliance with project specifications. You will also be responsible for developing standard operating procedures, conducting inspections, and preparing technical reports, all while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a construction liaison between design engineering and commissioning teams during the pre-commissioning and commissioning of Water Treatment Plants.
  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, and maintenance during the commissioning and operations of the Water Treatment plant.
  • Manage activities of outside vendors and suppliers, ensuring package control systems meet project specifications and performance requirements.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and Checkout Sheets to document and monitor equipment checkout processes, installation, and initial operations.
  • Develop and execute installation, assembly, and storage plans for Control Panels and other Control System components.
  • Perform Control System inspections of electromechanical equipment with clients and client-designated representatives.
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset to ensure executed work reflects technical requirements within company safety standards.
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and future reference.
  • Address alignment issues and plumb adjustment figures, utilizing plane geometry and chemistry formulas.
  • Lead and assist customers with Electrical and Instrumentation requirements to support commissioning activities and operational/startup practices.
  • Participate in Customer Factory Acceptance Tests and related Control Systems reviews.
  • Perform on-site programming for Water Treatment Control Systems and assist with electrical installation and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate closely with Automation and E&I Leaders regarding project execution and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • College degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Water Treatment field or 10 years of experience in Control System Development and/or Commissioning.
  • Strong focus on customer relationships, balancing customer needs with team objectives.
  • OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 highly preferred).
  • Knowledge of equipment and process startup related to products and systems, including Reverse Osmosis, Clarifiers, Thickeners, and Pressure Filters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams.
  • Basic water treatment chemistry knowledge and ability to communicate that information to others.
  • Hands-on electrical experience, including reading and interpreting drawings, particularly with electrical panels, junction boxes, cabling, and grounding practices.
  • Familiarity with setup, installation, configuration, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation used in water treatment processes.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation systems, including Smart MCC, VFD, ControlLogix PLC Platform, and Factory Talk SE.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Commissioning, Construction, or Services.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
  • Oil and Gas experience.
  • Ability to plan multiple priorities and focus on the most important ones.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new problems, clients, and situations.
  • Training in Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures preferred.
