About the position

As an Automation Hardware Engineer at Takeda, you will play a crucial role in the Automation engineering group at the Massachusetts Biological Operations site. Your primary responsibility will be to provide operational, project, and strategic support for various control systems used in manufacturing processes. This position involves ensuring the reliability and compliance of automation systems, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop specifications and designs for process control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Automation Engineering team in maintaining the design and operability of PLC, DCS, and Manufacturing Execution systems.
  • Mentor Automation engineers in troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Promote business case development for OPEX/CAPEX investments in automation system improvements.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders to develop Basis of Designs and specifications for Process Control Systems.
  • Maintain drawings including P&ID and Functional Requirements Specifications.
  • Use business tools such as COMOS and Veeva for documentation.
  • Provide support for system development, implementation, and testing at vendor sites.
  • Draft and implement commissioning test protocols for automation systems.
  • Participate in the Community of Practice to share best practices and lessons learned.

Requirements

  • B.S./M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant industrial controls experience.
  • Experience with cGMP Engineering role within pharmaceutical or FDA regulated industry.
  • Expert understanding of instrumentation and Industrial Control networking.
  • Experience with automation systems such as Allen Bradley or Siemens PLC platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows OS, Networking & System Security Fundamentals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with project management methodology.
  • Experience with endpoint security and automation patching systems.
