About the position

The Automation & Instrumentation Engineer at Novonesis is responsible for managing and directing automation controls and instrumentation activities, providing mechanical engineering expertise, and supporting maintenance and production departments. This role focuses on improving plant systems and equipment through technical expertise and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an electrical resource for Engineering, Maintenance, and Production Departments in areas such as PLCs, Servo Drives, VFDs, HMIs, and controls system troubleshooting.
  • Identify and develop training needs for the Maintenance group to enhance skill levels.
  • Analyze and reduce equipment downtime and repetitive electrical or control failures, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve issues.
  • Manage a master plan to upgrade controls and instrumentation at the site.
  • Maintain control schematics for plant process systems.
  • Calibrate equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in electrical and controls system maintenance & troubleshooting, specifically with PLCs, VFDs, Servos, and HMIs.
  • Ability to work with integrators to improve systems or resolve issues.
  • Experience with RSLinx, RSLogix 500/5000 Software, and SCADA Software (Wonderware/Factory Talk View) SEEQ.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet IP components and networking.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulics, valves, pneumatics, tooling, gearboxes, etc.
  • Good technical and mechanical knowledge with excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing small projects through to successful completion in collaboration with local support teams and contractors.
  • Experience within a GMP or Processing industry is preferred.
