About the position

The Automation Intern at Jack Link's Protein Snacks will engage in various projects involving automation technologies and platforms, focusing on the control of automated manufacturing processes. This internship offers hands-on experience from design and development to field installation and commissioning, working closely with the Engineering Team.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical Design and 2-D layouts, particularly for facility as-builts using AutoCAD.
  • Project documentation and equipment design specifications.
  • PLC Programming, specifically with Allen Bradley systems.
  • HMI Application Design using Rockwell, Wonderware, and GE Intellution software.
  • System Site Commissioning.
  • Training for Facility Operators and Technicians.
  • Providing Project Warranty Support.
  • Managing network communications with manufacturing equipment via VPN.
  • Performing design and engineering functions according to accepted practices and company standards.
  • Preparing project scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, and cost estimates for small projects.
  • Assisting in gathering field data and preparing project specifications.
  • Developing high-quality, error-free industrial software programs based on project requirements.
  • Coordinating design efforts with other project team members.
  • Preparing scopes of work, bills of material, specifications, cost estimates, and other necessary project documents.
  • Maintaining positive client relationships on assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year education in Engineering, Automation technologies, Controls related field, or similar.
  • General understanding of Automation Control technologies and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing equipment and food processing systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic electrical circuits.
  • Software application experience utilizing Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications (MS Office Suite).
  • General understanding of PLC programming with troubleshooting capabilities.
  • General understanding of HMI applications such as Rockwell software, GE Intellution, and/or Wonderware software applications.
  • Visual Basic and Database Programming knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience with Visual Basic and Database Programming.
