About the position

The Automation Maintenance Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of robotic fixtures and equipment to ensure optimal functionality and safety. This role involves maintaining spare parts inventory, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards while working in a high-demand warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on all automated equipment as scheduled and directed.
  • Carry out scheduled robotic and facilities equipment inspections to identify and resolve issues.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and perform repairs on automation equipment not functioning properly.
  • Accurately document and communicate all preventative maintenance and repair activities daily.
  • Responsible for all spare parts inventory usage and accuracy, providing weekly summaries.
  • Adjust work schedule as needed to accommodate business needs and perform certain tasks outside of normal operations functions.
  • Actively coordinate and communicate with the operations team to maximize equipment availability and minimize disruptions.
  • Responsible for the security of all company tools and diagnostic devices used in this department.
  • Assist in the training and development of assistant automation technicians.

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field.
  • 3 years of experience in automation / PLC controls, robotic, mechanical, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Must be a highly flexible individual that can adjust to changes quickly.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and holidays as needed to maintain maximum uptime on all robotic equipment and systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of hands-on troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • 2+ years of experience carrying out scheduled robotic and facilities equipment inspections.
  • 3+ years of experience conducting preventative maintenance.
  • Experience maintaining and modifying electrical systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting pneumatic systems.
  • Experience interpreting technical schematics: electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.
  • 3+ years of experience with electrical and electronic principles, National Electrical Code (NEC), and industrial electronics.
  • 3+ years of experience reading blueprints and schematics.
  • 3+ years of experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs.
  • 3+ years of work order management (CMMS).
