About the position

The Automation Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and validating automated changes to existing manufacturing processes. The role aims to optimize efficiency, increase capacities, reduce direct labor, and save costs by implementing automated systems in various manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize SolidWorks to design, develop, build, and implement automated systems and processes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to analyze requirements and design solutions for automation systems.
  • Meet with system integrators and PLC programmers to determine software necessities and troubleshoot issues.
  • Create automation plans that align with business goals and communicate project requirements with clients.
  • Lead the implementation of changes or new technology and establish monitoring and QA processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or electrical engineering technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience in the medical device industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485:2016, FDA, EU MDR, cGMP, and cGDP is preferred.
  • Understanding of PLC controls, robotic controls, and vision systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, and PLCs is important.
  • Basic mechanical engineering concepts for designing automation systems.
  • Knowledge of robotics principles, kinematics, and dynamics is valuable.
  • Understanding of industrial communication protocols like Modbus, Profibus, or OPC-UA is essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are crucial.
  • Ability to manage projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) certification.
  • Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) certification.
