About The Position

The Automation/MES Engineer position at Saint-Gobain in Malvern, Pennsylvania, focuses on supporting the digital transformation and sustainability initiatives for CertainTeed Roofing products in North America. This role requires strong technical and communication skills to manage operational technology (OT), SCADA/MES, and automation manufacturing infrastructure, ensuring the quality, availability, and performance of these systems.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of industrial MES and automation experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering Technology.
• Advanced knowledge of Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Ignition, or similar MES applications.
• Proficiency in PAC/PLC platforms, particularly Rockwell product suites.
• Understanding of SAP data flows for Manufacturing and Warehouse systems and their integration to MES.
• Familiarity with industrial networks and SQL databases.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.
• Strong teamwork, mentoring, coaching, and communication skills.
• Change management and strong analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with OPC Servers and MS SQL Server for guided configuration and enhancements.
• Knowledge of DMZ Firewall architecture.
• Experience in capital and process improvement teams budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Support digital transformation and sustainability in manufacturing for CertainTeed Roofing products.
• Manage local factory operational technology (OT) and SCADA/MES systems.
• Develop and support automation and controls standards and projects.
• Maintain local systems and provide level 1-2 support for OT, SCADA/MES, and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot production PAC/PLC systems and associated hardware.
• Implement systematic backup/recovery and change control programs for PAC/PLC, HMI, and peripheral equipment.
• Perform security updates and maintain backup and recovery plans for SCADA/MES systems.
• Analyze performance data to improve electrical and automation equipment unplanned downtime.
• Coach and assess competencies in automation and MES roles.
