About the position

The Automation/MES Engineer position at CertainTeed involves supporting the digital transformation and sustainability initiatives in manufacturing for roofing products in North America. This role requires strong technical and communication skills to manage operational technology (OT), SCADA/MES, and automation manufacturing infrastructure, ensuring quality delivery and performance of these systems.

Responsibilities

• Support digital transformation and sustainability in manufacturing for CertainTeed Roofing products.
• Manage local factory operational technology (OT) and SCADA/MES systems.
• Develop and support projects related to automation and controls.
• Maintain local systems and provide level 1-2 support for OT, SCADA/MES, and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot production PAC/PLC systems and associated hardware.
• Implement a systematic backup/recovery and change control program for PAC/PLC, HMI, and peripheral equipment.
• Perform security updates and maintain backup and recovery plans for SCADA/MES systems.
• Analyze performance data to improve automation and electrical equipment uptime.
• Coach and assess competencies in automation and MES roles.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of industrial MES and automation experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering Technology.
• Advanced knowledge of Wonderware System Platform, Rockwell SE, Ignition, or similar MES applications.
• Experience with PAC/PLC platforms, particularly Rockwell product suites.
• Familiarity with SAP data flows for Manufacturing and Warehouse systems.
• Proficient in SQL and industrial networks.
• Strong analytical, communication, and change management skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Microsoft Server platforms and remote desktop protocol.
• Knowledge of DMZ Firewall architecture.
• Familiarity with industrial performance improvement methodologies.
