About the position

The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV) at Omnicell plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient dispensing of sterile compounded medications using advanced automated IV equipment. The technician is responsible for equipment management, inventory control, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error-free manner, consistent with standard operating procedures.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly IV automation equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
  • Identify and order medications to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Monitor and order consumable supplies required for equipment operation.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and standard maintenance of IV automation equipment, reporting unresolved issues to the IV TAC.
  • Complete fingertip and media fill sampling.
  • Maintain communication with pharmacy operations manager and customers for proactive problem resolution.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program with customer needs.
  • Conduct training and ensure compliance with Pharmacy Services procedures and policies.
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility for work-related expenses and adhere to corporate card procedures.
  • Comply with procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility.
  • Maintain national certification and state-required credentialing.
  • Act as a resource or SME for Omnicell team members, providing training and assistance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Active License/Registration with State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Active Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT): PTCB or ExCPT tests accepted.
  • Working knowledge of IV Compounding.
  • Covid 19 Vaccine.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of IV Compounding experience.
  • Proficient in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques.
  • Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements.
  • Completed an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
  • Two years previous experience in hospital pharmacy automation.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with automation devices.
  • Automation implementation experience.
