About the position

The Automation Platform Engineer at Fiserv plays a crucial role in enhancing the automation capabilities for internal developers and engineers. This position involves managing server fleets, engaging with internal customers to drive automation projects, and ensuring the security and performance of the automation environment. The engineer will also be responsible for proposing technical decisions and documenting best practices, while collaborating with product owners to build new capabilities based on customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage a fleet of servers while monitoring and preventing abnormal behaviors
• Engage with internal customers to help drive their automation projects and help find solutions to their issues
• Manage one or more application layers and provide both regular upgrades and expansion of its capabilities
• Propose and make technical decisions while documenting best practices for the platform environment
• Work with product owners of the platforms to build new capabilities based on customer requests

Requirements

• 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience in a Linux environment
• 5+ years of experience with scripting and automation tools like Ansible, Python, Bash, etc.
• 3+ years of experience with containerization technologies (Docker, podman, or similar tools)
• 2+ years of experience with application performance and systems tuning
• 1+ years of experience or basic knowledge of networking and associated server protocols
• Must meet requirements to obtain and maintain 2C and 6C Government Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and/or military experience

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with observability platforms such as Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Splunk, Dynatrace etc
• Prior experience with network automation and security platforms such as Nautobot, HashiCorp Vault, Rundeck
• Ability to operate and find solutions independently while also interacting with product owners and other internal users on a daily basis
• Ability to focus and deliver on customer needs
