About the position

The Automation & Process Controls Engineer at PIM Brands is responsible for planning and coordinating technical activities on assigned projects within the manufacturing environment. This role involves multitasking, enhancing equipment performance through code modifications, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations. The engineer will work closely with various departments to ensure project requirements are met and will utilize technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to the design, construction, and modification of processing equipment and machinery in the manufacturing plant.
  • Establishes standards for testing, operating procedures, inspection, and maintenance of equipment according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Reports food safety and quality issues to Plant management and SQFP.
  • Follows PIM Brands GMP rules and monitors fellow employees for adherence to GMPs.
  • Develops or modifies programs and systems.
  • Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects.
  • Assists in the preparation of engineering proposals and monitors budgets.
  • Participates in project meetings and meetings with outside engineers and contractors.
  • Reviews project costs and invoices, employing project management skills.
  • Creates, monitors, and executes project engineering schedules and forecasts.
  • Coordinates and follows up on engineering deliverables, processes status reports, and change orders.
  • Provides technical solutions that support business needs in areas of safety, quality, sanitation, cost, delivery, motivation, and environmental issues.
  • Executes resource conservation projects that drive cost savings and compliance.
  • Develops and delivers documentation, drawings, training aids, etc., for projects and modifications.
  • Seeks out new technology to advance company needs and requirements.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.

Requirements

  • BS Engineering degree preferred, or 10 years in the industrial controls field.
  • Minimum five years of project engineering experience required; food manufacturing experience highly desired.
  • Competency in packaging and process system design required.
  • Proven track record of managing small to large projects is essential.
  • Proven core competency in planning, budgeting, schedule tracking, and management cost control is needed.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Rockwell Factory Talk platform, SE, ME, RS Lynx required.
  • Control Logix (Studio 5000) required; RSLogix 500 and 5 required; ladder programming a must.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in drive systems (SEW and Allen Bradley).
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills are necessary, as is the ability to identify root causes and associated solutions.
