About the position

The Automation Robotics Engineer at Siemens is responsible for leading the development and implementation of robotics solutions within the automation engineering team. This role focuses on designing, programming, and integrating robotics systems in a manufacturing environment, ensuring alignment with the company's automation strategy. The engineer will collaborate with various teams and external vendors to enhance manufacturing processes through innovative robotics technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, programming, and integrating robotics solutions in a manufacturing factory environment.
  • Choosing appropriate robotics solutions based on task requirements and workspace constraints.
  • Collaborating with 3rd party vendors and system integrators for automation/robotics solutions.
  • Exploring new robotics technologies to improve manufacturing processes and training engineers.
  • Developing a robotics maintenance strategy and scoping and estimating automation/robotics projects.
  • Commissioning robotics solutions and executing SCADA/PLC Integration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 2 years' experience in industrial automation.
  • Proven experience working with cobots and experience with AGVs/AMRs and vision systems.
  • Understanding of industrial network communication protocols including Profinet, Modbus, and OPC UA.
  • Understanding of control systems integration and proven experience with Siemens S7 PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, MES, IIOT, and key Industry 4.0 objectives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Understanding of digital twins and virtual commissioning of robotics solutions.
  • Proven experience developing robotics business cases.
  • Proven experience working with stakeholders to convert requirements into solutions.
  • Understanding of generative AI solutions in a manufacturing factory environment.
