About the position

The Automation Robotics Engineer at Lear Corporation will lead and manage automation projects, focusing on innovation and efficiency improvements across North America. This role involves the design, implementation, and ongoing support of automation cells, as well as mentoring and training team members in robotics integration and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America.
  • Develop concepts and aid in mechanical-electrical design for automation projects.
  • Install automation systems and train receiving plants on their operation.
  • Provide ongoing support for robot cells and manage small projects involving Fanuc and UR integrations.
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of automation systems.
  • Create and modify HMI projects and changes as needed.
  • Analyze information to evaluate results and choose the best solutions for problems.
  • Develop performance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Mentor and train plant controls engineers and support production as needed.
  • Support Kaizen, improvement walks, and error-proofing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Fanuc and UR robotic integration, programming, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in Fanuc robotics systems; additional experience with other brands is a plus.
  • Knowledgeable in Allen Bradley PLC systems including Micro Logix, Compact Logix, Control Logix with RSLogix 500, 5000, Studio 5000 software.
  • Ability to read and follow electrical schematics to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV).
  • Vision experience to guide robots and manage offsets.
