About the position

The Automation Sales Engineer at WEG Electric Corp. is responsible for leading sales and business development efforts for the company's Automation Suite of products in the Chicago/Northern Illinois territory. This role involves developing and implementing business plans to increase sales and market share, promoting WEG Automation products, and training internal and external sales teams. The position requires building relationships with customers, managing sales pipelines, and collaborating with various sales channels to achieve sales goals.

Responsibilities

  • Meet orders sales objectives set by WEC Management.
  • Define and manage the need for, and management of 3rd party reps in designated geographical, market, and product segments.
  • Identify new business opportunities and pursue complex sales deals.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers and understand the procurement process.
  • Know product features and applications to act as a business partner.
  • Lead pipeline management efforts with WEG sales teams and distributors.
  • Collaborate with parallel sales structures to win new business.
  • Develop plans and strategies for business development and achieving sales goals.
  • Gather knowledge of the assigned market/territory and trends.
  • Develop and deliver product training for the sales force and customer segments.
  • Travel to customer locations regularly and attend trade shows as needed.
  • Provide updates to management on account plan execution.
  • Collaborate with corporate personnel on pricing and delivery estimates.
  • Verify all commercial and technical aspects of quotations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
  • 5-10 years of related experience in sales or business development.
  • Strong business development acumen.
  • Strong industry knowledge of Drive, Softstart, Control, and Circuit Protection products.
  • Experience working with internal and external sales channels in a matrix structure.
