About the position

The Automation Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing automated control systems for various industrial processes, specifically within cement plants. This role requires a strong understanding of controls and automation systems, as well as hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming. The ideal candidate will have a solid grasp of industrial processes and be able to ensure the security and integrity of the automation systems. This may involve working with power meters, gas analyzers, and motor control systems, as well as implementing necessary cybersecurity measures to protect these systems. In this position, the Automation Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve automation issues, assist with the installation and commissioning of control systems, and maintain and upgrade existing automation systems as needed. The engineer will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations, monitoring and analyzing system performance, and making recommendations for improvements. Staying up-to-date with new technologies and advancements in the automation field is crucial for success in this role, as it will help in the continuous improvement of the systems in place.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement automated control systems for industrial processes in cement plants
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems
  • Ensure the security and integrity of the automation systems and implement necessary cyber security measures
  • Work with industrial control systems such as DCS, Ladder Logic and OPC
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve any automation issues
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of control systems
  • Maintain and upgrade existing automation systems as needed
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Monitor and analyze system performance, and make recommendations for improvements
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies and advancements in the automation field

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Automation engineering, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience working with controls and automation systems in the cement industry
  • Proficient in PLC and HMI programming
  • Knowledge of DCS, Ladder Logic and OPC
  • Experience with VMWare and Cyber Security
  • Familiarity with power meters, gas analyzers, motor control systems and switch gear
  • Knowledge of control panel design and layout
  • Experience with historian and artificial intelligence systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
