About the position

As an Automation Systems Engineer specializing in Mobile Robotics at Oceaneering International Inc, you will be at the forefront of developing complex and innovative logistic solutions that add significant value to our customers in the mobile robotics and automation markets. Your role will involve building long-term relationships with clients, understanding their business needs, and analyzing logistic processes to provide sound professional advice that supports their operations. You will be responsible for preparing quotes aimed at generating profitable contracts, working closely with the Business Development team to combine commercial and technical competencies. This position requires a strategic mindset, as you will need to identify opportunities while managing associated risks. In this role, you will act as the central point of contact between the customer and various internal teams, including Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Management. You will be responsible for preparing budgets and logistics solutions, focusing on managing key accounts to ensure uniformity and a harmonized approach across multiple projects. Staying informed about market trends, technological advancements, and competitive dynamics is essential for success in this position. Additionally, you will be required to travel to customer sites to provide on-site support and consultation. Your duties will include understanding customer requirements, developing and optimizing complex logistic projects, providing technical support to sales and business development teams, and leading innovation projects during the sales phase. You will also be responsible for developing fixed and final price proposals and conducting pricing for bids. This role requires working in a multidisciplinary and multi-national team, and you may be assigned additional duties as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer's business case and requirements, providing consultancy and developing logistic solutions including budget preparation and proposals.
  • Develop and optimize complex logistic projects with high dynamics and multiple interfaces.
  • Provide technical support to sales and business development teams.
  • Attend site visits of customer/prospect facilities and develop rough order of magnitude (ROM) documents.
  • Lead innovation projects during the sales phase, in line with the product roadmap.
  • Identify and analyze customer needs, ensuring applications are commercially viable and translating business requirements into product designs.
  • Develop fixed and final price proposals (FFPs) and conduct pricing of bids with Cost/Calcs.
  • Act as System Consultant for multiple Key-Accounts, directing standardization of products and interfaces across projects.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary and multi-national team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5-8 years of work experience in a comparable commercial B2B position within a technical and capital goods environment.
  • Commercial, customer, and result-oriented with an affinity for material handling and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).
  • Ability to work independently, act proactively, and deliver quality results.
  • Excellent communication skills in speech and writing, with the ability to exhibit impact and influence.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Dutch and German is preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial, and commercial thinking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and material handling systems.
