About the position

As an Automation Systems Engineer specializing in Mobile Robotics at Oceaneering International, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in developing complex and innovative logistics solutions that add significant value for our customers in the mobile robotics and automation markets. Your primary responsibility will be to build long-term relationships with clients, understanding their business needs, and providing sound professional advice to support their operations. This involves analyzing logistic processes, asking the right questions, and preparing quotes aimed at generating profitable contracts. You will work closely with the Business Development (BD) team, combining both commercial and technical competencies. This role requires a strategic mindset, as you will need to identify opportunities while being mindful of potential risks. As the System Consultant, you will act as the central point of contact between the customer and various internal teams, including Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Management. Your focus will be on managing Key Accounts to ensure uniformity in solutions and a harmonized approach across multiple projects at the System Consultancy level. Staying informed about market trends, technological advancements, and competitive dynamics is essential for success in this role. Additionally, you will be required to travel to customer sites as part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer's business case and requirements, providing consultancy and developing logistic solutions including budget preparation and proposal conclusion.
  • Develop and optimize complex logistic projects with high dynamics and multiple interfaces.
  • Provide technical support to sales and business development teams.
  • Attend site visits of customer/prospect facilities and develop rough order of magnitude (ROM) documents.
  • Lead data and process analyses, guiding customer and engineering teams at the concept stage.
  • Lead innovation projects during the sales phase in alignment with the product roadmap.
  • Identify and analyze customer needs, ensuring the application of new innovations is commercially viable.
  • Develop fixed and final price proposals (FFPs) and conduct pricing of bids with Cost/Calcs.
  • Act as System Consultant for multiple Key Accounts, directing standardization of products and interfaces across projects.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary and multi-national team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience; a Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5-8 years of work experience in a comparable commercial B2B position within a technical and capital goods environment.
  • Commercial, customer, and result-oriented with an affinity for material handling and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs).
  • Ability to work independently, act proactively, and deliver quality results.
  • Excellent communication skills in speech and writing, with the ability to exhibit impact and influence.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Dutch and German is preferred.
