About the position

The Automation Systems Manager at Marvin is a strategic leadership role focused on enhancing automation and programming within the Custom Equipment Process Group (CEPG). This position involves managing and mentoring teams, overseeing budget development, and implementing continuous improvement strategies to meet safety, quality, and customer experience goals. The role also includes research and development of automation control systems, ensuring alignment with company standards, and fostering relationships across various departments and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate workflow and provide direction to the CEPG Programming group.
  • Build and train a team, manage a budget, and lead workload balance.
  • Research, analyze, install, and test automation control systems (SCADA, PLC).
  • Oversee development, testing, and implementation of plant management interfaces and data collection systems.
  • Provide direction for preventative maintenance rule sets for common recurring issues.
  • Act as a liaison between vendors and internal teams to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures.
  • Identify user problems and system needs to improve internal customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and ability to create a team environment.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C++, C#, Python, Jython, T-SQL.
  • Familiarity with SCADA and control systems, data communication protocols, and industrial protocols.
  • Experience with PLC and Operator Interface programming languages.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A four-year degree is preferred, or one to two years of related experience/training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, PHP, Wicket.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems like Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux.
