About the position

The Automation Technician I plays a crucial role in maintaining and managing plant maintenance programs, ensuring that all activities prioritize employee health and safety, product safety, and environmental protection. This position involves hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various plant systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems, while collaborating with engineering services and vendors to optimize equipment efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric systems including PLC systems.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical failures in manufacturing equipment such as conveyors and pallet handling machines.
• Conduct minor unscheduled maintenance and repair on trucking equipment like forklifts.
• Document performance and processes accurately and timely as required by leadership.
• Schedule, execute, and document work orders within the CMMS.
• Participate in machine process and design improvement forums.
• Provide coaching on the use and repair of industrial production equipment.
• Engage in health and safety programs and training.

Requirements

• Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in industrial machine maintenance.
• Ability to read and use mechanical and electrical schematics for troubleshooting.
• Understanding of industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components.
• Experience with electrical systems including motors, variable AC drives, and PLCs.
• Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for up to 12 hours and lift 75 pounds.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of HMI operation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Rockwell Automation Compact Logic and Ethernet IP networks.
• Familiarity with OSHA and Control of Hazardous Energy procedures.
