About the position

The Automation Technician will be a key member of the manufacturing team in Crosby, TX, responsible for engineering, testing, maintaining, and supporting automation solutions to enhance production efficiency and reliability. This full-time, permanent position involves programming and troubleshooting automation equipment, providing technical support during production breakdowns, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Program logic-controlled equipment to meet production, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Provide technical automation support during production breakdowns and new equipment installations.
  • Assist in investigating equipment malfunctions to improve reliability by identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Perform setup and calibration for process and control instrumentation such as flow meters and temperature transducers.
  • Determine and program parameters for variable frequency drives and servo drives.
  • Install and commission new instrumentation for data collection as requested by Engineering or Operations teams.
  • Maintain and develop existing plant control systems continuously.
  • Conduct routine diagnostic checks on equipment, electrical panels, and control systems.
  • Research new industrial automation equipment and materials for manufacturing use.
  • Follow all safety regulations, including Arc Flash protection and use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in automation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent technical degree and/or relevant experience.
  • Thorough understanding of PLCs and HMIs, including advanced programming techniques.
  • Knowledge of VFD & Servo Motor Control.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Networking protocols such as EthernetIP, ModbusRTU, ModbusTCP, CanOpen, and Powerlink.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Instrumentation including Level, Pressure, Flow, Temperature, and various sensors.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office and other relevant tools.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work both in a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
