About the position

The Automation Technician role is essential for supporting automation engineering services, focusing on hardware and software design and development. This position is responsible for maintaining system operations, troubleshooting various systems, and performing preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of automation and robotic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components
  • Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment are completed on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings
  • Analyze engineering test results and implement changes to resolve problems
  • Collaborate with the automation team in the qualification process of automated systems
  • Maintain software, documentation, and equipment to the latest revision or operational specifications
  • Assist engineers in developing and designing hardware and software required for all automation solutions per specifications
  • Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment
  • Demonstrate strong awareness of safety

Requirements

  • Typically requires an Associates degree, military training, equivalent vocational training, or equivalent experience
  • Typically requires 2 years of related experience
  • Demonstrates advanced technical skills which may be used to conduct on-the-job training and/or lead/guide other employees
  • Experience replacing Bearings
  • HMI knowledge preferred
  • Corrective maintenance experience
  • Precision manufacturing experience
  • Working experience with Sensors preferred
  • Power supply knowledge
  • Problem-solving attitude
  • Demonstrates broad knowledge of functional techniques and has input to process improvement
  • Requires little to no instruction and supervision
