About the position

The Automation Technician role is focused on programming and maintaining logic-controlled equipment to meet production, quality, and safety standards. This position involves providing technical support during production breakdowns, assisting with new equipment installations, and improving existing systems. The technician will also investigate equipment malfunctions, perform calibrations, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Program logic-controlled equipment to achieve production, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Provide technical automation support during production breakdowns and new equipment installations.
  • Assist in equipment malfunction investigation to increase reliability by identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Perform setup and calibration for process and control instrumentation such as flow meters and transducers.
  • Determine and program parameters for variable frequency drivers and servo drives.
  • Install and commission new instrumentation for additional data collection as requested.
  • Maintain and continuously develop existing plant control systems.
  • Perform routine diagnostic checks on equipment, electrical panels, and control systems.
  • Research new industrial automation equipment and materials for manufacturing use.
  • Follow all safety regulations, including Arc Flash protection and use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in automation.
  • Thorough understanding of PLCs and HMIs, including advanced programming techniques.
  • Knowledge of VFD & Servo Motor Control.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Networking (Ethernet IP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, CanOpen, Powerlink).
  • Knowledge of Industrial Instrumentation (Level, Pressure, Flow, Temperature, Proximity Sensors, etc.).
  • Proficiency in using MS Office and other tools.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a team environment and unsupervised.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with B&R Automation, Rockwell Automation, and/or Automation Direct.
