About the position

As our business continues to expand, we are seeking a razor-sharp Assistant Controller to join our team at Mills Auto Group's Harvey Shared Accounting office. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our financial statements and managing key financial processes. Your contributions will be vital in overseeing cash management, factory receivables, finance product remittances, reserves, and product cancellations, all of which significantly impact our financial success. In this position, you will oversee daily bank deposits, including ACH and wire transfers, ensuring meticulous record-keeping. You will also perform daily reconciliation of all bank accounts to maintain financial accuracy. Additionally, you will be responsible for revising and posting monthly standard entries by the 15th of each month, generating requested reports for management and department heads, and preparing timely tax reports, including sales tax, tire disposal tax, lease tax, and tangible personal property taxes. Your role will also involve ensuring the accurate completion of end-of-month procedures and financial statement reporting in accordance with franchisor and management company requirements. Regularly reviewing and maintaining accounting schedules on a monthly basis will be part of your responsibilities, as well as managing vehicle inventory upon receipt and leading monthly physical inventory of vehicles by sales managers, reconciling with the general ledger. Finally, you will perform reconciliation of Work in Progress accounts, ensuring all financial processes are executed with precision and integrity.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Office Manager or Accounting Manager, or 1 year as an Assistant Controller in automotive dealerships.
  • Experience with the CDK DMS system is a plus but not required.
