About the position

The Automotive Dealership Controller/CFO is a key leadership role within a family-owned dealership group in South Florida. This position is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, conducting sales and expense analysis, and identifying opportunities to enhance the dealership's profitability. The Controller/CFO will work closely with management to ensure accurate financial operations and maintain strong business relationships with both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that all manufacturer accounts including warranty claims, rebates, interest, parts, inventory, and co-op advertising accounts are current and accurate.
• Participate in the preparation of short and long-term financial forecasts for the dealership.
• Review and reconcile the GL to ensure accuracy with bank and reserve accounts and factory/floor plan payables and note any unusual entries that need investigation.
• Prepare, interpret, and analyze financial statements and submit to the manufacturer and management in accordance with established timeframes.
• Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the store to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies and applicable government regulations.
• Prepare and submit required statements and reports.
• Develop and maintain an effective cash management system.
• Manage and safeguard the store's assets and ensure that internal controls are in place.
• Assist department managers in reading and interpreting their financial reports and in creating action plans needed to improve their operation.
• Respond to requests for information and assistance in a timely manner.
• Work with management to improve revenue or reduce expense to meet or exceed budget and grow the business.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field.
• Automobile dealership experience in accounting, office management, and/or as a controller.
