About the position

The Education Manager is a hands-on supervisor responsible for coaching and developing a team of Instructors at Universal Technical Institute. This role aims to positively impact student enrollments, retention, and profitability while fostering teamwork and ensuring high standards in education delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for students.
  • Lead practical demonstrations to provide real-world experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing aircraft systems.
  • Collaborate with the education team to enhance existing courses and develop new ones.
  • Guide and mentor students on their individual projects, encouraging critical thinking and innovative solutions.
  • Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices in the working environment.
  • Manage the Education department's budget, purchases, and instructor scheduling.
  • Hire and discipline staff while promoting their development through coaching and mentoring.
  • Communicate with staff and students regarding classroom issues and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure classes are supplied and courses are staffed for quality education delivery.
  • Counsel students on problems or discipline issues and collaborate with other departments for solutions.
  • Follow compliance responsibilities related to campus security and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain a high-performance team of motivated staff through effective training and performance management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • ASE Certification preferred and able to teach ASE courses.
  • 5 years prior teaching and/or management experience in the Automotive/Diesel Industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • People management skills and abilities.
  • Time management skills and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to create budgets and interpret financial data.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master Certification for courses to be taught or post-secondary education credential from UTI or similar institution.
  • Experience in the Automotive/Diesel Industry.
