About the position

The Automotive Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for planning and developing advanced vehicle electrical systems across various design areas, including body electronics, multimedia, switch design, and smart security design. This role involves conducting research on customer needs and market trends, translating these needs into technical requirements, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop advanced vehicle electrical systems for cross-car line models, aligned with the global electrical platform.
  • Conduct research on North American customer needs, market trends, and competitor benchmarking.
  • Attend industry events/conferences and collaborate with customer research groups.
  • Translate customer needs into technical system requirements.
  • Create system specifications to clarify purpose, requirements, and target performance.
  • Communicate and negotiate with stakeholders in R&D, Sales, and Quality to align on customer needs and priorities.
  • Develop business cases, including cost estimation, sales strategy, and alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, key milestones, and provide regular status and risk updates to executive management.
  • Build hardware prototypes and oversee the implementation process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Embedded Systems (Hardware/Software).
  • Strong understanding of general automotive vehicle electrical system design and ECU specifications.
  • Knowledge of LAN (CAN/Ethernet) and Power distribution (12V/High Voltage) systems.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with global stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation skills to convey technical information to executives.
  • Understanding of electrical platforms.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Japanese vehicle development processes and over five years of experience in vehicle development.
  • Experience in Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) development, including hypervisor systems.
  • Knowledge of developing machine learning applications and control software for prototypes.
