About the position

The General Sales Manager at Hamer Toyota is responsible for leading the sales department, achieving sales goals, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. This role involves recruiting, training, and developing the sales team while maintaining compliance with legal regulations. The position aims to foster a positive work culture and drive sales performance through effective leadership and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve forecasted goals and objectives for the department.
  • Maintain CSI above national average.
  • Maintain sales efficiency above 100% of manufacturer requirement.
  • Recruit, hire, train, motivate, develop, and hold accountable all members of the sales team.
  • Prepare a monthly and annual budget and plan to meet goals and objectives.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect vehicle sales.
  • Process all paperwork required by federal, state, and local laws.
  • Review deal files and documents related to federal, state, and county law for completeness and accuracy.
  • Conduct training meetings for salespeople and sales managers regarding legal handling and processing of documents.
  • Work closely with other department managers to ensure cooperation and teamwork throughout the dealership.
  • Attend and participate in weekly manager meetings to review objectives, tracking numbers, and safety/compliance issues.
  • Direct Garff Management Routines for the Sales Department.
  • Create schedule for sales department employees.
  • Hold daily one-on-one planning and review meetings with each sales manager/team leader.
  • Develop and organize a training schedule to ensure that each sales associate receives sales training and/or role-playing sessions daily.
  • Guide sales managers in setting their short and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Assist sales managers in developing programs of improvement for underperforming sales associates.
  • Assist customers in the purchase process when necessary.
  • Ensure all sales associates adhere to Company Values and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Recommend to the GM the new and used vehicle inventory to be carried.
  • Teach, train and ensure that the sales team is following up with all leads per company standards.
  • Assist in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.

Requirements

  • Toyota OEM experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in navigating all sales and inventory functionality in Dealer Daily is a plus.
  • Prior experience leading a high volume new/used car sales department.
  • Prior experience managing an Internet Sales department and experience with current Digital Retailing trends.
  • Proven record of exceeding Regional Sales Availability on a consistent basis.
  • Proven record of attaining Regional Sales Efficiency on a consistent basis.
  • Proficient in used vehicle acquisition including in store acquisitions and online auction experience.
  • Mastery in CRM utilization required.
  • Dealer Socket experience is a plus.
  • Functional knowledge of Equity Mining software to support sales and inventory efforts.
  • Proven success in driving results and developing talent within a dealership required.
  • High School diploma required, college degree preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend job-related instructions and information.
  • Deals creatively and logically with problems while expressing empathy for customers.
  • Results orientation and ability to plan and achieve business goals within timelines established.
  • Teamwork and ability to work with others to enhance results or processes.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact and communicate well with employees and customers.
  • Leadership and example setting to motivate dealership managers and employees.
