About the position

As an Automotive Key Account Manager for 3M's Automotive and Aerospace Solutions Division, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales and fostering relationships with key accounts, particularly Tesla. This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your curiosity and collaborate with a diverse team of innovative professionals across the globe. You will be responsible for growing sales at the Tesla key account, engaging with various stakeholders including Purchasing, Design, Development, Validation, Quality Engineering, and Program Management, primarily located in California. Your role will also involve providing support at Tesla's North American locations or assembly plants as needed, ensuring that 3M's products meet the evolving needs of the automotive industry. In this position, you will develop applications and advance the commercialization of new products and ideas across all vehicle segments. Utilizing your leadership skills and in-depth product and market knowledge, you will tackle complex system challenges with 3M's innovative solutions. Collaboration with the global key account team will be essential, as you will manage the opportunity pipeline using appropriate CRM tools. This role requires a proactive approach, as you will need to drive results independently while also working effectively within a highly matrixed organization. Additionally, this position requires the use of a company vehicle, necessitating a pre-employment and ongoing review of your motor vehicle history. The work environment is hybrid, allowing for some remote work, but you will need to travel to Tesla's facilities in Fremont and Palo Alto at least three days per week. Responsibilities

  • Grow sales at the Tesla key account and manage account relationships at all levels.
  • Interface directly with Purchasing, Design, Development, Validation, Quality Engineering, and Program Management.
  • Provide support at Tesla's North American locations or assembly plants as needed.
  • Develop applications and advance commercialization of new products and ideas throughout all vehicle segments.
  • Utilize effective leadership skills and product knowledge to solve complex system challenges with 3M products.
  • Collaborate with the global key account team and manage opportunity pipeline using CRM tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Three (3) years of combined sales and/or automotive experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Current, Valid Driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering or Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Five years of Automotive Sales experience.
  • Data processing/analysis experience using Excel.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in automotive environments.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proven history of responsiveness and service.
  • Experience with platform planning and proficiency with CRM systems.
  • Ability to work independently to deliver sales results while being team-oriented.
