About the position

The Automotive Lead Tech/Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the service department's workflow, ensuring quality maintenance standards, and managing technician training and recruitment. This role involves diagnosing and repairing vehicles, supervising apprentice technicians, and maintaining shop organization and equipment. The position requires independent judgment and effective communication with both technicians and service advisors.

Responsibilities

• Assess work as it arrives at the service department and dispatch repair and maintenance work to main line technicians.
• Assist with express shop overload and day-to-day planning and production of the shop.
• Assist with diagnosis and perform repairs as workload demands.
• Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality maintenance standards are met.
• Maintain technician training standards by managing courses needed for each technician through the Hyundai Learning Portal.
• Ongoing recruitment of new technicians to meet continued shop growth as needed.
• Maintain and manage dealer tools and equipment, keeping the shop clean and organized.
• Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Road test vehicles when required or refer to the shop foreman.

Requirements

• 2+ years' experience in the automotive industry
• Diagnostic ability
