About the position

The Automotive Mechanic 7-E9 position within the Department of Technology, Management and Budget involves performing minor engine repairs and maintenance on specialized motorized equipment used for grounds maintenance at the Capitol and Secondary Complex. The role requires the employee to develop skills to become a journey-level mechanic, operating various equipment for tasks such as snow removal and landscaping.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor engine repairs and adjustments.

  • Operate various equipment for snow removal, mowing, and landscaping.
  • Maintain specialized motorized equipment and hand/power tools.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Automotive Mechanic 7: No specific experience required.
  • Automotive Mechanic 8: Two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers in vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Automotive Mechanic E9: Four years of experience in vehicle repair and maintenance, including two years equivalent to an Automotive Mechanic 8.
  • Completion of a recognized vocational training program in automotive mechanics may substitute for experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
