About The Position

The Automotive Painter is responsible for refinishing vehicles to their pre-accident condition, ensuring adherence to Caliber Collision's standards and guidelines. This role involves diagnosing and executing refinishing tasks effectively and profitably, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Typically has a minimum of 3-5 years of refinishing experience.
  • Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate or ASE certification in refinishing preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under Caliber's insurance policy.
  • Comply with all safety requirements, including respirator safety and fitment/usage.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others, both orally and in writing.
  • Advanced communication skills to mentor, coach, and train apprentices as required.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt easily to a fast-paced environment.
  • Personable, friendly demeanor with a World Class customer service approach.

Responsibilities

  • Refinish all assigned vehicles to pre-accident condition according to the written work-order.
  • Follow proper repair procedures and perform all refinish procedures according to factory specifications and Caliber policy.
  • Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc. to complete quality work.
  • Manage and control materials cost, maximizing usage and inventory.
  • Prepare color tint to match paint color and mix paint colors, ensuring all formulations meet OEM recommended standards.
  • Follow all paint manufacturing guidelines and spray test panels for each vehicle to ensure color match.
  • Assist in prep work when necessary and ensure all paint operations are complete before returning the vehicle to the body technician.
  • Complete QC sheet for every vehicle as applicable and adhere to all regulatory compliance guidelines for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and organized work area and comply with Caliber safety rules, guidelines, and standards.
