About the position

The Auto Parts Counter Person at Empire Automotive Group is responsible for overseeing the parts sales process, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring accurate order fulfillment. This role requires effective communication with both customers and staff, as well as a strong understanding of auto parts sales. The position is salary/commission-based and emphasizes teamwork to contribute to the store's growth.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the parts sales process from start to finish.
  • Communicates with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Converse effectively regarding customer parts status.
  • Reads and understands the parts catalog when looking up specific parts.
  • Answers phone calls and provides price quotes and other information to customers.
  • Reviews body shop estimates to verify the parts ordered are correct and pricing is in line with the estimate.
  • Provides high-level service to both internal and external customers.
  • Pulls/fills orders from stock and maintains weekly bin checks to ensure accuracy of stock.
  • Notifies parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention.
  • Locates out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submits emergency orders if necessary.
  • Ensures all internal requests for parts are billed on service repair orders.
  • Receives payment from retail customers or obtains credit authorization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous auto parts sales experience (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Ability to read/interpret safety and maintenance documents.
  • Ability to calculate figures/amounts including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
  • Experience providing outstanding customer service.
