About the position

The Automotive Service Manager is responsible for overseeing the service department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and managing the performance of service personnel. This role involves direct interaction with customers to explain services, maintain customer satisfaction, and drive repeat business through effective follow-up and communication. The manager will also be tasked with setting departmental goals, managing budgets, and staying updated on industry products and training.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in servicing, repairing and explaining each service needed.
  • Understand customer requirements and concerns to match them with various service options.
  • Explain services being performed and keep customers informed throughout the service process.
  • Stay up to date on new products, features, and accessories, attending product training as required.
  • Maintain a service customer follow-up system to support repeat and referral business.
  • Hire and supervise all service department personnel, monitoring their performance in servicing customers.
  • Craft goals and objectives for the department, including an annual operating budget and a marketing plan to promote new business.
  • Maintain a high Customer Service Index (CSI) rating by handling customer complaints immediately and appropriately.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a service manager.
  • Strong focus on providing excellent customer service.
  • High school diploma or higher education.
  • Clean driving record & valid driver's license.
  • Driven personality, eager to improve and able to work within and support internal teams.
