About the position

The Automotive Service Production Manager is responsible for leading the maintenance service team, ensuring high-quality service for all revenue-producing and service vehicles, as well as shop equipment. This role involves supervising technicians, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring efficient workflow within the service department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all work is completed and meets General Motors standards
  • Communicate effectively with other shifts to run workflow efficiently
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest workplace safety and environmental requirements and implement all health and safety policies on the shop floor
  • Maintain and service equipment as needed or according to dealership and manufacturer standards
  • Interview drop-off drivers and document vehicle complaints
  • Provide technical service to vehicles and equipment
  • Craft job orders, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to resolve malfunction and plan work procedures
  • Test-drive vehicle once service is complete to ensure that they run smoothly
  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to Warranty Clerk
  • Look out for training and factory technical bulletins as they become available
  • Oversee technician training and schooling

Requirements

  • Extensive GM automotive mechanical experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, math, and writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize work in a dynamic environment
  • GM dealership experience required
  • Management or customer service experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • ASE certification required
  • Master Tech or World Class Tech preferred

  • Bilingual strongly recommended
