About the position

Transdev is seeking Autonomous Vehicle Drivers in San Francisco, CA, to operate and evaluate autonomous vehicles, ensuring safety and efficiency in a fast-paced environment. This role is crucial for delivering safe autonomous driving systems to customers and involves collecting data and providing feedback on vehicle performance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Transdev's high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle.
  • Demonstrate situational awareness and adjust to changes in the environment.
  • Communicate courteously with management, engineers, and the public.
  • Operate/Drive in single and/or dual driving, five days a week.
  • Sit still for long periods of time and respond quickly to changing environments.
  • Work individually and in small groups of 2-10 people.
  • Operate a vehicle for 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
  • Provide rides in the autonomous vehicle to the general public.
  • Monitor multiple software systems with constant focus.
  • Provide concise, clear, and accurate verbal and written feedback regarding vehicle operations.
  • Operate the vehicle on paved and rough surfaces in a closed course facility.
  • Complete daily reports and document procedures and tests.
  • Interact with the public in a polite and professional manner, educating them on self-driving technology when necessary.
  • Operate autonomous vehicles on defined and undefined routes under various environmental conditions.
  • Operate onboard data recording computers.
  • Comfortably ride as a passenger in an autonomous vehicle.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving on public roads.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to parallel park with minimal assistance.
  • Proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (i.e. Gmail, Hangouts, Sheets, and Docs).
  • Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred).
  • Typing speed of at least 40 adjusted wpm.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to describe thoughts concisely.
  • Ability to respond quickly to multiple scenarios and adapt to new technology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with good judgment in fast-paced environments.

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle technology.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols in driving environments.
