About the position

We are seeking an experienced Autonomous Vehicle Platform Integration Engineer to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. In this role, you will be responsible for vehicle-level integration, calibration, and verification of Level 4 Automated Driving Systems (ADS) interface and vehicle features on PACCAR's Autonomous Vehicle Platform (AVP). The selected individual will work in a global, cross-divisional, and innovative team to develop and test "Best in Class" vehicle functions for North America. This position requires a strong background in systems engineering and a passion for advancing automotive technology. As part of the PACCAR Technical Center, you will execute vehicle-level testing on closed-courses and public roads to ensure that vehicle features and ADS interfaces meet PACCAR's stringent requirements. You will calibrate and verify vehicle control algorithms on AVP in collaboration with external suppliers and autonomy partners. Your role will also involve providing technical expertise and support to PACCAR divisions and suppliers on a wide variety of AVP development topics, including system integration, requirement reviews, failure mode analysis, ISO 26262, and SOTIF work products, as well as testing demands. You will develop and execute comprehensive test plans for requirements verification activities, troubleshoot and resolve integration and software defects discovered during testing, and manage the commissioning, instrumentation, and configuration of prototype vehicles and testing equipment. Additionally, you will identify opportunities and provide input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness. Responsibilities

  • Execute vehicle-level testing on closed-courses and public roads to verify vehicle features and Autonomous Driving System (ADS) interfaces meets PACCAR requirements.
  • Calibrate and verify vehicle control algorithms on Autonomous Vehicle Platforms (AVP) in collaboration with external suppliers and autonomy partners.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to PACCAR divisions and suppliers on a wide variety of AVP development topics including system integration, requirement reviews, failure mode analysis, ISO 26262 and SOTIF work products, and testing demands.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for requirements verification activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in the automotive industry.
  • Strong systems engineering background including experience interpreting and testing to requirements.
  • Experience with vehicle data acquisition systems and test equipment (e.g. ATI Vision, Vector tool suite).
  • Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or ability and desire to obtain.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and powertrain management systems and integration.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience with autonomous systems development, integration, or testing.
  • Knowledge of vehicle perception sensors (e.g. camera, lidar, radar).
