About the position

The Autonomy/AI Engineer at CFD Research will focus on the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models to enhance combat effectiveness in uncrewed systems. This role involves collaborating with various teams to implement autonomy solutions, providing technical inputs to leadership, and maintaining industry knowledge in autonomy. The engineer will also conduct exploratory data analysis and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and programmatic inputs to leadership surrounding autonomy and its potential uses for UAS products.
  • Assist with technical policy implementation and provide feedback on autonomy regulation requirements.
  • Liaise between vendors and technical staff to improve and optimize UAS products.
  • Maintain top-level industry knowledge surrounding the latest technical information in autonomy.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models in a collaborative environment.
  • Communicate complex technical material clearly to a variety of audiences including management and stakeholders.
  • Independently conduct exploratory data analysis and present findings to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Analytics, or Computing.
  • Familiarity with machine learning modeling techniques such as Decision Trees, Random Forest, Support Vector Machines, Logistic Regression, and Neural Network Architecture.
  • Basic cloud development experience in AWS, Microsoft Azure, or similar cloud environments using Python, R, and GitHub/GitLab.
  • Working experience with Linux-based systems such as RHEL, Ubuntu, or other Debian operating systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Currently possess or can obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
