About the position

The Autonomy System Validation Engineer at Applied Intuition will focus on validating autonomy modules for on-road applications, particularly in the context of Level 4 trucking. This role involves developing and executing validation strategies, building comprehensive test plans, and collaborating with systems engineering teams to ensure thorough coverage of operational design domains (ODD) and behaviors. The engineer will also analyze real-world performance metrics and contribute to safety case generation, playing a critical role in shaping the technical direction of autonomy projects in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the system validation strategy for autonomy modules (perception, planning, prediction, localization) for L4 trucking.
  • Build comprehensive test plans and specifications across testing modalities including simulation and real-world testing.
  • Work closely with systems engineering teams on validation test plans to ensure completeness and coverage across ODD and behavior.
  • Develop and implement strategies for analyzing real-world data to measure performance and identify challenging and relevant events.
  • Identify, develop, and measure performance metrics and report on performance evaluation.
  • Identify, build, and deploy frameworks/pipelines to enable metric generation and evaluation.
  • Trace identified metrics to the safety case tree.
  • Support generation of the safety case and release recommendation reports.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in ADAS or Autonomous driving.
  • MS/BS degree in Robotics, Aerospace, Computer Science, or equivalent required.
  • Experience with ADAS, autonomous systems, and robotics.
  • Knowledge of existing standards and regulations relevant in the automotive industry, esp. ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL4600.
  • Knowledge of architectural design of ADAS/AV systems.
  • Experience with scripting and simulation tools.
  • Mastery of strong collaboration with other teams, customers, and companies to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior work in either autonomous vehicles or ADAS or aerospace.
  • Project management and leadership experience in the AV industry.
  • Experience in the AV and robotics fields.
