About the position

The AV Specialist role involves installing and troubleshooting audio-visual projects at client sites, ensuring high-quality service and adherence to industry best practices. The position requires collaboration with project leads and clients, focusing on enhancing AV skills through training and mentorship. The specialist will handle complex installations, provide technical training, and maintain effective communication with project managers and design teams.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, configuring, operating, disassembling, and troubleshooting audio-visual equipment.
  • Performing production editing, routine maintenance, and inventory tracking.
  • Coordinating with clients on equipment placement and integration for live events and meetings.
  • Responding to and resolving routine questions and technical issues.
  • Conducting high-level site surveys and communicating client needs to the design team.
  • Staging and installing complex multi-room audio-visual systems while coordinating with on-site trades and customer IT staff.
  • Training field specialists on new products and audio-visual standards.
  • Providing regular updates to the project manager and addressing potential site or design challenges.
  • Commissioning complex installations using appropriate tools and applications.
  • Working with programmers to install basic room control systems and debugging control systems for optimal performance.
  • Providing user and technical training on installed systems.
  • Completing and submitting installation documentation, including as-built drawings and configuration backups.
  • Escalating client issues to appropriate resources when necessary and maintaining professionalism in all communications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 4-6 years' experience as a lead on professional audio-visual installations.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Experience with installation and configuration of audio and video conferencing systems.
  • Complete understanding of audio-visual network requirements within larger networks.
  • Knowledge of VoIP and analog phone systems.
  • Basic IP networking expertise or education.
  • Crestron Digital Media & NVX Certified with knowledge of Crestron equipment and Toolbox software.
  • Biamp Tesira Certified with knowledge of gain structure and room acoustics.
  • Infocomm CTS-I Certified with knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • OSHA Certified with knowledge of structural requirements and safety concerns.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, communicating daily objectives to field specialists.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills for diagnosing and repairing audio-visual issues.
  • Outstanding technical skills in audio-visual design, signal flow, and networking.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
