About the position

The AV Tech position at Cactus Petes involves operating sound and lighting equipment in entertainment venues, ensuring the smooth execution of events. The role requires troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, assisting entertainers, and managing stage gear and schedules for stage technicians. The AV Tech will also contribute to the development of departmental objectives and complete special projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sound and lights in specified entertainment venues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor sound and lighting problems.
  • Assist entertainers as needed.
  • Maintain entertainment equipment and cables properly.
  • Clean all equipment and entertainment areas regularly.
  • Assist with lighting changes as required, including new gels and hanging lights properly.
  • Organize and maintain stage gear, lighting equipment, sound equipment, music libraries, and sound booth.
  • Evaluate all entertainment and forward evaluations to specified individuals nightly.
  • Actively contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of department objectives.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Schedule Stage Technicians for all entertainment events.
  • Call Stage Technicians to confirm acceptance of schedule.
  • Coordinate crew scheduling and crew assignments with Entertainment Manager, Audio Visual and Lighting Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills required.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a plus.
  • Copywriting skills required.
  • Organizational skills required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical and theatrical terminology.
  • Thorough understanding of stage direction, scripts, cues, cue calling, and standard operating procedure manuals.
  • General understanding of OSHA codes pertaining to theatre and electrical safety.
  • Understanding of technical setup documentation such as stage plots, lighting plots, audio plots, patch sheets, gel cut list, cable bundle list, etc.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in general stagecraft as a stage hand or stage crew member.
  • One year experience in a specialized entertainment discipline.
