About the position

The AV Technician & IT Support Specialist at the Boston Athenæum plays a crucial role in overseeing the audiovisual (AV) systems within the institution. This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of AV equipment in a large AV-equipped event space and three smaller conference rooms. The specialist will stay current on AV procedures, including updates related to Zoom and Crestron firmware, applications, and policies. The role requires the technician to be solely responsible for AV during events, which includes connecting and disconnecting equipment such as microphones, projectors, and sound systems, as well as operating the AV equipment during events and troubleshooting any issues that arise. In addition to AV responsibilities, the technician will assist in maintaining the Boston Athenæum's desktop and laptop computer systems. The technician will also help maintain the server, network, and cloud infrastructure of all systems. The typical work schedule is from 12 PM to 8 PM, with the possibility of remote work on event days and occasional Saturday work as necessary. The position requires a commitment to fostering a workplace culture of teamwork, diversity, and inclusion, and the technician will be expected to provide documentation and training to staff as needed.
