About the position

The AV / VTC Engineer is responsible for coding, testing, debugging, documenting, and installing new AV software while updating existing systems. This role involves collaboration with the Programming team, Project Managers, Engineers, and customers to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of software applications, particularly within the Special Operations community. The position is based in Chesapeake, VA, and may involve limited relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary system commissioner ensuring all systems are functional from a programming, networking, audio, and video standpoint.
  • Develop and facilitate customer acceptance tests and provide end user training.
  • Participate in design team efforts reviewing drawings and equipment lists to ensure systems meet all requirements such as size, shape, arrangement, and capabilities.
  • Assist project management with integration scheduling, as well as determining project manning and technical requirements.
  • Perform configuration of equipment in accordance with industry standards, best practices, and government security guidelines.
  • Develop Digital Signal Processing (DSP) files from a blank canvas.
  • Remain up to date on new and emerging technology, including understanding of audio and video flow including AEC and EDID principles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 6 years AV/VTC experience OR high school diploma and minimum of 10 years AV/VTC experience
  • Working towards, or interested in working towards the Crestron Master Programmer certification
  • AV/VTC system design and installation experience
  • Manufacturer certifications from one or more of the following: Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Clearone
  • Excellent customer-facing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored to government customers and sponsors
  • Ability to work independently in troubleshooting complex system issues and developing complex technical solutions
  • Knowledge of 2D CAD drawing development (Visio, AutoCAD, or equivalent)

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical Discipline
  • Crestron Master Programmer
  • CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I certified
  • Prior Military, DoD, or IC experience
