The Aviation Applications Engineer at Saft America, Inc. plays a crucial role in implementing a commercial strategy to support new opportunity products within the Aviation business sector. This position is designed for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on aviation products, focusing on the development of specifications that cater to customer opportunities. The engineer will serve as the technical sales lead for all new and developing business, collaborating with internal stakeholders to address customer needs and solve problems effectively. A key aspect of this role involves building an external network to gather market intelligence and insights that can inform product development and customer engagement strategies. In addition to technical expertise, the Aviation Applications Engineer is expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of FAA and EASA requirements relevant to both existing and future products. This includes active participation in committees aimed at shaping specifications, guidelines, and requirements that govern aviation products. The engineer will be responsible for engineering and documenting new aviation battery specifications in accordance with industry standards, as well as developing installation and test procedures as necessary. This role requires a proactive approach to improving existing specifications, documentation, and practices in collaboration with customers, engineering teams, quality assurance, and manufacturing departments. The Aviation Applications Engineer will also support the sales team by providing complete solutions that balance cost and lead-time, proposing innovative solutions for battery specifications and applications, and working closely with OEMs or subcontractors to ensure the production of high-quality items at the lowest possible cost. Furthermore, the engineer will contribute to the growth and nurturing of relationships with key accounts, ensuring customer confidence and satisfaction by acting as the SME interface to the customer. Participation in aviation sales and marketing initiatives, such as retrofits, upgrades, and increased distribution channels, is also a critical component of this role.
