About the position

Stantec's Aviation group is seeking a Civil Engineer - EIT to join their team in Boston, MA. This entry-level position involves working on various airport-related projects, assisting senior engineers and project managers, and developing skills in civil engineering design and project support. The role includes both office and field work, focusing on the design and construction of airport facilities and transportation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of plans and specifications for airport facilities such as runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking aprons.
  • Perform civil engineering design tasks on assigned transportation or development-related projects.
  • Conduct calculations and analyses in support of project design development.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, project document reports, and client communications.
  • Attend and assist in client/contractor/stakeholder meetings to understand client goals.
  • Recognize and address developing technical problems appropriately.
  • Utilize relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings.
  • Perform duties as an on-site quality assurance resident engineer during construction projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program.
  • Engineering Intern Certification (Fundamentals of Engineering Exam) with the aim of obtaining full professional licensure.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience as an entry-level engineer or student intern in an engineering or construction-related firm.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and relevant software programs such as AviPlan and Stormwater Modelling.

  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to take initiative on tasks and coordinate with design team members.
