About the position

In the role of Aviation Civil Engineer at HDR, you will be responsible for designing and planning production for a wide variety of airfield projects. This includes site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. You will act as the Task Lead or Design Lead as appropriate, collaborating with multi-discipline architectural and engineering teams on aviation projects and pursuits across multiple regions. Your contributions will include participating in client and design review meetings, preparing technical reports, specifications, and contract documents, as well as assisting with conducting quantity calculations and constructing cost estimates. You will perform moderately complex assignments, exercising judgment in the evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Effective communication will be key, as you will need to address project issues with clients, contractors, and suppliers/vendors. Additionally, you will serve and/or grow as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization, resolving problems of greater scope and complexity as needed. Your role may also involve assisting with construction administration and management-related duties, making decisions on significant design and engineering procedures, and planning, organizing, and supervising the work of junior staff and technicians as necessary. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 7 years of professional experience
  • PE license
  • Knowledge and experience with FAA Advisory Circulars, airfield design, and construction specifications
  • Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D, MS Office, Bluebeam
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be committed to quality and consistency
