About the position

The Aviation General Manager at Willow Run Airport is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Fixed Base Operator (FBO) operations. This includes managing customer relations, line operations, accounting, and health, safety, and environmental functions. The General Manager will plan and coordinate activities related to the sale and provision of general aviation services, such as fuel, hangar, and office rentals. The role requires providing day-to-day leadership and direction to ensure safe and reliable service, acting as a liaison with the airport community, and fostering a positive team environment to enhance service to both internal and external customers. In this position, the General Manager will correspond with customers regarding various issues, including tenant relations and transient sales, and will regularly interact with customers to promote the FBO and gauge customer satisfaction levels. Utilizing customer feedback, the General Manager will work on continuously developing and improving capabilities and processes. Under the guidance of the Director, the General Manager will assist in developing base forecasting and budgeting, being accountable for base performance against budget and audit results. A key aspect of this role is establishing a culture that prioritizes safety through daily observations, shift briefings, routine audits, and monthly safety meetings. The General Manager will formulate procedures for emergencies such as aircraft accidents and fires, ensuring that safety, integrity, and security are maintained in daily operations. This includes conducting accident investigations to determine root causes and overseeing GSE and facility maintenance operations. The General Manager will also carry out management responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, administer the Computer Based Training program, and perform leadership functions such as conducting annual reviews and managing the performance of direct reports. Additionally, the General Manager will ensure that employees receive necessary training and company communications, including safety and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 4 year college degree in Aviation or related study and/or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Pass background screening and airport screening.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • General knowledge of business management and accounting.
  • Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Office products.
