The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Aviation Maintenance Quality Inspector - Flight Test to join one of our exciting teams supporting the B-1 and B-52 programs at Edwards AFB, California. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting and observing troubleshooting activities related to test, repair, and test instrumentation on aircraft to prepare them for flight. You will also support on-site labs and initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures. Your duties will include performing Aviation Maintenance Inspection tasks to maintain knowledge, skills, and required certifications, as well as conducting audits and surveillance of all manufacturing and quality assurance processes. You will engage in quality functions such as government customer coordination, configuration change verification, conformity inspections, airworthiness inspections (including pre-flight and post-flights), and corrective action investigations. Additionally, you will oversee Aviation Maintenance Technician tasks to ensure they obtain and maintain the necessary knowledge, skills, and certifications. The position requires the use of technical specifications, sketches, manuals, drawings, engineering instructions, and FAA forms to accomplish work assignments while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. You will also be expected to operate various information systems, including company web-based systems and Microsoft Office products, and interpret airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and other approved data.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and observe troubleshooting activities of test, repair, and test instrumentation on aircraft to prepare them for flight.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Plan and organize the sequence of work packages to promote safe, efficient operation and meet predetermined schedules.
  • Operate information systems required to perform assigned tasks, including company web-based systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Interpret and perform to the requirements of airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and other approved data.
  • Apply mathematical calculations to setup and use precision measuring tools for various measurements.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.

Requirements

  • Must have 3+ years of experience with aircraft maintenance on complex jet powered aircraft with military, airline, or certificated repair station background.
  • Must have 3+ years of aircraft inspection experience.
  • Must be able to complete Fall Protection Training.
  • Valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience inspecting aircraft, avionics, flight controls, and/or other electronics related to Flight Test installations and activities.
  • 3+ years of Electrical and/or Avionics Mechanic experience working with various electrical components for military aircraft.
