About the position

AeroNavData Inc. is seeking a full-time Aeronautical Data Analyst to join our team in St. Louis, Missouri. In this role, you will be responsible for the attribution, processing, and maintenance of aeronautical data, as well as participating in the evaluation of this data and executing Quality Assurance processes. The position requires a strong understanding of aeronautical specifications and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to achieve common goals. You will be expected to edit, manipulate, and maintain aeronautical data using both custom and third-party software, ensuring that all data products adhere to the appropriate aeronautical specifications. As an Aeronautical Data Analyst, you will help evaluate and process database updates according to established methodologies, identify and resolve basic issues or risks using proper aeronautical data capture techniques, and conduct testing and evaluation of Garmin aeronautical data products. You will also perform established operations for quality assurance and execute tasks as directed by your Team Leader or mentor. A fundamental understanding of Garmin's Aeronautical Data development process is essential, as is the ability to document your work in an organized manner. The role involves maintaining a working knowledge of the National Airspace System (NAS) and its functionality, particularly in relation to Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) and on-board Flight Management Systems (FMS). You will also be responsible for acquiring and maintaining DO-200A associate qualifications and processing aeronautical sources from various publications. This position may require periodic overtime, holiday, and weekend work, so flexibility is important.

Responsibilities

  • Edit, manipulate and maintain aeronautical data using custom and 3rd party software
  • Ensure application of appropriate aeronautical specifications to the data/products
  • Help evaluate/process database updates according to established methodology
  • Identify/resolve basic issues or risks using proper aeronautical data capture techniques
  • Conduct testing/evaluation of Garmin aeronautical data products
  • Perform established operations for quality assurance and execute tasks as directed by Team Leader or mentor
  • Demonstrate fundamental understanding of Garmin's Aeronautical Data development process
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Use production tools effectively

  • Learn, understand and apply established or new processes
  • Recognize/process multiple source types and translate necessary information
  • Incorporate field knowledge within documented standards framework to identify and solve problems
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards for accurate data input and manipulation
  • Input or update, perform a QC process on, and maintain features in the NASR database
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the NAS and its correlation with IFR and FMS
  • Acquire/maintain DO-200A associate qualifications and training requirements
  • Insert, update, and delete records in AeroNavData's DO-200A qualified database
  • Process aeronautical source from Standard and Non-Standard AIPs
  • Interface with NFDC and AeroNav Products associates and Civil Aviation Authorities as directed
  • Use and understand database queries written for Microsoft SQL Server using SQL

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in aviation OR private pilot rating OR minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0)
  • Basic working knowledge of aeronautical charting principles
  • Demonstrates knowledge of industry standards
  • Great typing skills and proficiency with PC applications and Windows OS
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal and technical communication skills
  • Ability to work and thrive in a technical environment
  • Ability to complete well-defined basic tasks

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous work experience as a TERPS Specialist or aeronautical information specialist
  • Private pilot license with instrument rating
  • Understanding of instrument flight rules and procedures
  • Database skills and SQL knowledge
  • Familiarity with Cartography, GIS principles and methodologies
  • Bilingual skills
